Art Nomination Shock

He only made his professional art debut in 2003. Now, Dumfries-born Donald Urquhart's place on the shortlist for the prestigious Beck's Futures Award - the art worlds most lucrative art prize - seems miraculous. His distinctive, often satirical ink works manage to subvert and blend Victoriana and Walt Disney cartoons with popular cultural icons, Goya, homo-eroticism, Nazis and Mary Poppins.
