Vatican Art Move

A painting at the Columbia Museum of Art is being sent to the Vatican in Rome for an exhibition on the Immaculate Conception. "The Immaculate Conception," by Jusepe de Ribera, will be included in art from around the world in the exhibition "A Woman Dressed in the Sun: Iconography of the Immaculate Conception." The exhibit will run from Feb. 11 to May 13. The painting depicts Mary being carried into the sky by cherubs. The work was a gift from variety store owner Samuel Kress of Pennsylvania. Irish Art
