Northern Ireland art lovers will be spoiled for choice next week when hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of Irish paintings go on display. International auction houses Sotheby's and Christie's will be in the province to highlight their Irish sales which take place in London early next month. Christie's will have viewing in Clandeboye Courtyard, near Bangor, on Monday and Tuesday, while Sotheby's will offer similar facilities in the Waterfront Hall from Tuesday to Friday. Christie's sale on May 12 features the great names of Irish art. Three superb paintings by George Barret, Sir William Orpen and Louis le Brocquy lead a strong line-up at King Street on May 12. The Christie's sale will once again be held in two parts, the first at King Street at 11am, followed by an afternoon session at South Kensington at 2.30pm.
