Tate's £215 Million Art Expansion

BBC News reports that London's Tate Modern art complex has now unveiled plans to add a £215 million ($395.8 million) glass building designed by Herzog and De Meuron, which will increase the size of its art exhibition space by sixty percent. The site will combat overcrowding and give more than four million visitors per year "the experience they seek and demand," said Tate director Sir Nicholas Serota. An electricity sub-station will move to make way for the eleven floor art extension. Planning permission will be sought this autumn with the Tate hoping to open the building in time for the 2012 Olympics. For the full story - click the title Irish Art
