Turner Art Prize Moves North

The Tate has confirmed that the Turner art prize will be presented at Tate Liverpool next year, abandoning its traditional base at Tate Britain in London. It will be the first time the art prize has been based outside London since its foundation in 1984. If the prize follows its traditional pattern, the exhibition of shortlisted artists will open at Tate Liverpool in October 2007, and continue, after the announcement of the winning artist in December, into 2008 - the year Liverpool takes on the mantle of capital of culture.
