The Art Of Laughter
A celebrated Glasgow based artist is hoping his latest art will have someone laughing all the way to the bank. Turner art prize nominee Phil Collins is offering a cash prize of £2000 to the person who can chuckle the longest on camera. If this sounds easy, there's a catch - entrants will be expected to make themselves laugh with no comic prompt. The results of the event will be screened in British cinemas as part of a national arts festival. All contestants will be asked to begin laughing at the same time and to laugh continuously for as long as possible. Anyone caught not chortling at an audible level, or taking breaks, will be disqualified. The artist - once short-listed for the Turner Art Prize - has been commissioned to make the five-minute film for a festival. He wanted to commemorate the 80th anniversary of television by celebrating laughter on the box.
