It may never be deemed the world’s greatest art, but a new picture by a Swedish artist is definitely the biggest. The painting, measuring 8,000 sq m (85,000 sq ft) and titled Mother Earth, took David Aberg two years and 100 tonnes of paint to complete in an aircraft hangar in Angelholm, Sweden. The artist, who broke the record for a painting by a lone artist, said: “This is a peace painting that symbolises the world, with the woman as its symbol.”
