Jolie Good Art Sale For Banksy

Angelina Jolie has spent £200,000 on art works by British guerrilla artist Banksy at his high-profile art show in Los Angeles. The glamorous actress's purchases included a white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead. Banksy's US art exhibition hit the headlines earlier this week when it emerged that a live elephant which had been spray-painted as part of the display was scrubbed down by officials after complaints from animal activists. Jolie, who attended the opening of the art show with boyfriend Brad Pitt, spent £120,000 on a painting called Picnic, which depicts a white family of four lunching under an umbrella while 15 starving Africans look on. The bullet-ridden bust, which an onlooker said she 'went nuts for', cost £40,000 while the star was said to have spent the same amount on a portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie. The Barely Legal exhibition by Bristolian Banksy focused on global poverty and injustice. The 38 yea old female elephant, named Tai, had been painted with non-toxic paint in the same red and gold pattern as the exhibit's walls, and was placed in a living room. Cards handed out at the opening said: "There's an elephant in the room. There's a problem we never talk about" - and went on to explain that many people live below the poverty line.
