The Art of Being Diana

A photographic exhibition documenting the high-profile life of Diana, the Princess of Wales, has opened at the National Portrait Gallery in London, the BBC reports. Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of her death, the display focuses on her life as a royal wife, mother, charity worker and international fashion icon. It is intended to show the development of Diana's image from shy teenager to "glamorous and sophisticated" woman. The display includes work by David Bailey, Lord Snowdon and Mario Testino. Drawn from the Gallery's collection, the exhibition covers the years from her engagement to the Prince of Wales in 1981 to her last public charitable campaign in 1997. Featuring a portrait of Diana and her two sons by John Swannell it shows the public and private side of her life.
