Accountants Flog Art Collection

A collection of 448 art works which have been collected over a period of 40 years by Deloitte and Arthur Andersen are to be sold on Thursday at the Royal Academy. The collection includes the work of Patrick Caulfield, Bridget Riley, Patrick Heron, Elisabeth Frink and Gilbert & George. The collection is valued at between £750,000 and £1m. 'This will be one of the most extensive art collections to appear on the auction market in recent years. The Deloitte Art Collection has great strength and depth due to its acquisition of the former Arthur Andersen Art Collection in 2002, which was one of the first Corporate Art Collections to be formed in the United Kingdom,' said Nick Curnow of Lyon & Turnbull, the art auctioneers arranging the sale. It is understood that Deloitte will be moving into a new open-plan offices that 'preclude the display of traditional art'. (For full source and full article click the Headline). Irish Art
