Conor Stolen from Irish Library
BBC News reports that a painting by the Belfast artist William Conor has been stolen from Bray Public Library in County Wicklow. Fluter's Tune is thought to have been taken on Thursday, but the theft was not noticed until the next day. It depicts an elderly man playing a flute watched by a woman with a baby. Irish police are investigating. Conor, best-known for his depiction of working-class life in Belfast, was a government World War I artist. Born in Belfast in 1881, he died in 1968. Works by Conor have sold for more than £100,000. (For full source and full article click the Headline).
