Rolf Goes On Sale
He is a national treasure, a freshly minted CBE, and has a wonderful bedside manner with sick animals. He has blown on the didgeridoo, wobbled his board and gamely given us Stairway to Heaven, sung in his own inimitable style. And now Rolf Harris is taking on the art world with his biggest ever selling exhibition of paintings: 44 of them, with price tags ranging from £20,000 to an eye-watering £90,000. Tom Hewlett, the owner of the Portland Art Gallery in London, has another celebrity artist on the books: Jack Vettriano. Harris's people "had seen how Vettriano had been managed, and wondered if we could do the same sort of thing for Rolf", he said. Rolf Harris, the next Jack Vettriano? "I like the idea of championing someone whom the establishment think is no good," said Mr Hewlett. "It is a bit like Jack. People say he can't paint; but he can paint."
