Nubile Art For Trendy Boutiques
Natasha Law loves naked women. Well, drawing them anyway. And whether it's sketching in ink or painting in bright glossy colours, her ability to capture the female form has made her a big name on the British art scene. Now her trademark nubile figures have been incorporated into a new clothing line. The quirky collection of hand-printed separates all showcase her linear art drawings and are now stocked in a selection of trendy London boutiques. Now, thanks to a mention in Vogue, the range is selling well and this success is, for the meantime, eclipsing the fact that she is Jude Law's sister. Her next show is unlikely to bear any of the childlike innocence that inspires some of her work. This is, after all, the person who made a name for herself by painting provocative snapshots of women dressed in nothing more than knickers and high heels. "I've always liked the idea of cropping in and treating little chunks of the female form in isolation - part of me just wanted to explore these lovely shapes and how they were put together," she says. "I wanted to explore how beautiful it [the female form] could be without being too graphic, but I'd like to see how graphic I could get, though, before it got pornographic. The paint I use is glossy and flat so it takes away a lot of the real sexuality in it. Whilst my illustrations always tell a story, the paint I use strips it into something more abstract, so I'm quite interested onto what level I can take that. We'll see."
