Matisse And Winnie The Pooh

Art isn't about astronomical prices at the Chelsea Art Fair, Reuters reports, where this weekend you could pick up a Matisse for less than the price of a first class plane ticket to New York. An eclectic mix of 43 art galleries and exhibitors have been packed into the elegant Chelsea Old Town Hall with its soaring ceilings and grand chandeliers. "The nice thing about this fair is that it can excite a 20-year-old or an 80-year-old and they could both afford to buy something" said Caroline Penman, organiser of the art fair. Now in its 12th year, the kaleidoscope of oils, watercolours, illustrations and sculptures at Chelsea is a more intimate experience than some of the larger art fairs in London. The fair features ink and line drawings by Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse for around £2,000 as well as original Fougasse illustrations, the iconic World War Two propaganda cartoons by Cyril Kenneth Bird. Illustrations also feature, including Disney works of Winnie the Pooh, originals from English Golden Age illustrator Arthur Rackham and the more contemporary Paul Kidby, who is known for his work on books by fantasy author Terry Pratchett.(For full source and article click the Headline).
