Moore Art To Star at Sotheby
The Guardian reports that the predicted star of Sotheby's evening sale of famous Impressionist and modern art next week will be sculptor Henry Moore's Draped Reclining Mother and Baby, a piece that represents one of the major themes of his work.
The monumental bronze was cast in 1983, three years before Moore's death, and is estimated to fetch between £3m and £4m in a sale at the London art auction house that experts expect will see as much as £100 million change hands. Other well-known works by artists including Picasso, Renoir and Magritte will also go under the hammer. Sotheby's art specialist Alexander Platon believes the Moore will perform well because of a steep rise of interest in sculpture. 'Interest used to be mainly from the US, but now it is from Europe too,' he said. (For full source and full article click the Headline).
