Whalley Gallery Lifts Off

Holywood, County Down has seen galleries come and go. The new addition - The Whalley Gallery - specialises in contemporary Irish paintings and sculpture and looks set to be a fixture. Leading Irish artists and emerging artists feature in their Irish art offerings. This is a welcoming gallery without the formal atmosphere of many. Their present mixed show varies in quality and price but a huge Graham Knuttel was being delivered, an excellent Conor was on the wall and a large quality work by Jonny McEwen was ready for hanging. Jane Swanston has sold out all her recent work shown at the Whalley Gallery and the staff were promising a large new work next week for Holywood collectors who have been asking for more work by this artist. (If collectors can't wait, there is a excellent new Swanston at the Caldwell Gallery on the Lisburn road). Dawn Crothers has a solo planned for October and Jack Packenham has been pencilled in for early next year so the future looks good. Open on Sundays.
